Optics-2024 : Filters : Atmospheric Glow
Atmospheric Glow
Description
Atmospheric Glow is a glow style mega-filter that brings instant atmospheric looks to an otherwise flat scene. Based around a film glow, this effect includes 9 independently controlled groups, including volumetric light rays, a smoke/fog generator, light flickering, chromatic aberration, optical orbs, film grain and a vignette, each of which adds a new element to the scene.
Category
Light.

Glow
Intensity
Sets the intensity of the glow.
Color
Sets the color of the glow.
Radius
Determines how much the glow spreads to surrounding regions.
Threshold
Sets the pixel values that are affected by the glow. A value of 0 applies the glow to the entire image while a setting of 100 results in no glow.
Glow From Alpha
Generates the glow from the alpha channel instead of or in addition to the color channels.
Glow Under Source
Composites the image over the glow.
Edge Mode
Determines how the edges of the frame are handled.
Transparent

Blur
Blurs the rays.
Threshold
Controls the amount of rays based on a brightness threshold. Fewer rays with more definition are generated at higher threshold values.
Rays From Alpha
The rays are generated from the alpha channel instead of the RGB channels. In this case, the rays will not use color from the image and will typically be brighter. Values between 0 and 100 interpolate between using the RGB and the alpha.

Smoke
Opacity
Sets the opacity of the smoke.
Contrast
Sets the contrast of the smoke.

Prism
Generates chromatic aberration where the RGB light is split in a way that emulates poor quality glass or plastic lenses.
Enable
Enables the prism effect.
Amount
Sets the amount of the prism effect.
Weight
Sets the smoothness of the prism. Lower values generate a more visible stepped offset, while higher values produce a smooth continuous prism.
Short Color
The first color in the prism.
Mid Color
The second color in the prism.
Long Color
The third color in the prism.
Grain
Enable
Enables the grain.
Monochrome
When enabled, the grain is monochrome. In this mode, parameters that have no effect are grayed out.
Size
The Size parameter controls the size of the grain. The larger the Size setting, the larger the grain will be.
Note: You may not see an accurate representation of the grain unless the viewer is set to a 1:1 zoom ratio.
Amount
The Amount parameters set the red, green and blue intensities of the grain. Film stocks generally have varying amounts of red, green and blue intensities with the blue intensity generally higher than the rest. If you set the red, green and blue amount to a value of 0, the grain will disappear.
Red Amount
Controls the intensity of the red grain.
Green Amount
Controls the intensity of the green grain.
Blue Amount
Controls the intensity of the blue grain.
Softness
Controls the softness of the grain. Normally, only minor softness adjustments are necessary, usually between a value of 0-1.
Film Response
The Film Response parameters control where you will see grain in the image. In most cases, film grain is apparent over the entire image except the brightest whites with the black areas being the most affected.
Position
Position defines the portions of the image where grain will be added. A low Position value places grain in the darkest image values, while a high Position value places grain in the brightest areas.
Range
Increases or decreases the area where grain is added to the image based on the Position value. A low Range value indicates a narrow range of values, while a high Range value indicates a large range of values.
Minimum
Sets the minimum level of grain that is always added to the image.
Note: A Position value of 0 and a Range of 80 is typical of standard film, with grain applied to the entire range except the brightest whites with black being the most affected.
Orbs
Emulates the look of moisture on the surface of a camera lens.
Enable
Enables the orbs.
Count
Sets the number of orbs.
Illumination Radius
Sets the area covered with orbs. Higher values result in orbs covering more of the image.
Invert Illumination
Inverts the illumination and alters the area in which the orbs appear.
Falloff
Sets the feathering of the orb edge. Higher values produce a softer edge.
Depth Blur
Sets the apparent depth blur of the orbs in Z space. Higher values cause the orbs to appear out of focus.
Depth Blur Randomness
Randomizes the depth blur sorting of the orbs in Z space. Higher values create a more randomized blur.
Intensity
Sets the opacity of the orbs. Higher values produce a more opaque result.
Intensity Randomness
Randomizes the intensity of the orbs.
Light Source X/Y
Sets the X/Y position of the light source in relation to the orbs.
Scale
Sets the scale of the orbs.
Scale Randomness
Randomizes the scale of the orbs.

Color Randomness
Randomize the orb color.
Coherence
Adjusts the random motion of the orbs. Lower values produce more random movement, whereas higher values cause the orbs to move in a specific direction.
Flicker Amount
Sets the intensity of the orb flickering. Higher values result in a brighter, more intense flicker.

Sets the blend mode used to add the orbs.
Random Seed
Sets the randomness of the orbs.
Post Color Correct
Enable
Enables post color correction.
Hue

Brightness
Adjusts the brightness of the image. Positive values brighten, negative values darken.
Contrast
Adjusts the contrast of the image. Positive values increase contrast, negative values decrease contrast.
Gamma
Adjusts the gamma of the image. The gamma adjustment leaves the white and black points the same and only modifies the values in-between. Positive values lighten the midtones, negative values darken the midtones.
Temperature
Sets the color of the image to be either warmer or cooler. Dragging the numeric field to the right makes the image cooler (bluer) and dragging the numeric field to the left makes the image warmer (redder).
Cyan/Magenta
Adds either Cyan or Magenta to the image. Dragging the numeric field to the right makes the image more magenta and dragging the numeric field to the left makes the image more cyan.
Red
Adds or subtracts red from the image.
Green

Adds or subtracts blue from the image.
Vignette
Enable
Enables the vignette.
